Cebu, Philippines — July 29, 2025
Cebuana entrepreneur, beauty queen, and social advocate Aida Patana has passed away at the age of 51, as announced by her children on social media on Tuesday morning. Known for her elegance, compassion, and energetic personality, Aida leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and empowerment.
A Glamorous Life with Purpose
Aida Patana wasn’t just a name in the pageant world — she was a force of nature in both business and community work. A proud single mother of five (Stephanie, May, twins Shiela and Sheina, and Ian) and a grandmother to six, she built her own brand as the founder of M Talents Events and Promotions, and host of her own talk show, “The Aida Patana Show.”
Despite the challenges of raising a large family on her own, Aida carved a space for herself in the public eye, using her platform to support single moms, children in need, and small community initiatives. Through feeding programs, livelihood support, and personal financial help, she became a symbol of strength and generosity.
Beauty Queen with a Big Heart
Aida’s pageantry career brought her international recognition. She was crowned Mrs. Tourism Ambassador Universe 2022 in Malaysia. Prior to that, she represented the Philippines at Mrs. Philippines World 2019 in Paris, where she placed as first runner-up. She also competed in Queen of Mandaue 2010, earning another first runner-up title.
She often used her pageant achievements as a platform to promote her advocacy for empowered single parents, sharing her story and encouraging others to rise above hardship.
A Final Show of Love
Just days before her passing, Aida had expressed excitement for an upcoming concert scheduled for August 23 at WaterWorld Cebu, featuring viral star Elias J TV and her twin daughters Shiela and Sheina, collectively known as the Cebuana Twins under the Viva talent agency.
One of her last public posts was on July 28, where she thanked sponsors and shared her anticipation for the event. In her final video earlier in July, she joyfully celebrated reaching 1 million followers on Facebook, a testament to her strong social media presence and loyal following.
A Family’s Grief
Her daughter, Stephanie Abilla, broke the heartbreaking news of Aida’s passing on Facebook:
“With heavy hearts, we share that our beloved mom has peacefully joined our Creator. This is an incredibly difficult time for our family, and we kindly ask for your understanding and privacy as we grieve and process this deep loss.”
Her daughter Shiela Patana also shared a moving tribute:
“Rest in Peace my supportive, my first love, my partner in crime. I love you always, Ma. You may now rest from the pain that you always overthink.”
Remembered by Friends and Fans
Aida’s passing was met with grief from close friends and fans alike. Fashion designer and Miss Universe Philippines Cebu creative director Danny Booc wrote a heartfelt message:
“You were more than just a friend to me, Aida; you were my confidante, my partner in every sense of the word. Rest well, my dear friend. May your memory live on in my heart.”
Her vibrant personality, her tireless support for local talent, and her genuine care for people in need will be remembered long after her passing.
Controversies and Courage
Despite her positive image, Aida Patana also faced legal challenges. In 2024, she was convicted of estafa in a high-profile case involving businessman Ronald Elpa. The issue stemmed from two bounced checks totaling ₱600,000, which Aida claimed were used as security in a mutual business deal gone wrong.
She spent one night in jail before posting bail and addressed the controversy online, saying:
“Dili ko perpekto pero wala ko nimo pasagdi. Thank you everyone sa love and care ninyo, I really appreciate it.”
Even amid public scrutiny, Aida continued her work, maintained her poise, and remained transparent with her followers.
A Legacy to Celebrate
From beauty queen to businesswoman, from mother to mentor, Aida Patana wore many crowns — not just the ones she won on stage, but the ones she earned through love, grit, and dedication. Her life reminds us that success is not just about trophies, but about how you touch the lives of others.
As Cebu mourns her loss, we also celebrate her story — one filled with color, courage, and compassion.
